I am posting this on behalf of the Joplin Humane Society in Joplin MO. You see, the people of Joplin are very busy saving the lives of the animals. It has been devastating reading and watching the pain and suffering in Joplin MO since the terrible Tornado laid its path of destruction 11 days ago. People are struggling to find one another, to find a place to simply be, and to find their beloved pets!
Lost, scared, and disoriented, the pets are hiding, their trust is gone. How do we help the pets know what to do to be safe? How can we tell the pets to walk right over here—we will keep you safe? I am watching the Facebook posts on the Joplin Humane Society page. They have said they are setting Havahart® traps for small animals.
With great joy, there is a post by a woman, "My fiance just got a call from the Joplin Humane Society. They found my Freya! I'm so flippin' happy I'm crying. He's going straight to Joplin to pick her up today. They started to set traps out at Somerset Apartments. She was the first cat they found, and called our phone number on the back of her tag.” This sent tears of joy to my eyes.
Other posts such as, "The bulldozers are coming in, we need more traps set to get as many animals as possible," again, tears to my eyes. "Will they wait a couple more days so the traps can catch more animals?" What sort of traps are they using? Havahart® to the rescue! Many people use your traps to relocate animals to another area. Joplin Humane Society is using Havahart® traps to bring the beloved pets of Joplin home, back to their families, to keep them safe.
As of today, I believe they have found over 800 tornado displaced animals. Many pets rescued with the help of your Havahart® traps. Thank you for creating these traps! You have brought great joy to many!
Havahart® recently donated live animal traps and feral cat rescue kits to aid in the search and rescue efforts in Joplin following the devastating tornado that displaced both people and their pets on May 22, 2011.

What a great story, and a great use for these kind of traps! I hope you find all of the lost pets!
I do use the have a heart traps. I also tell people not to put peanut butter in it. the animal can chock on the peanut butter.
