DIY Garden Pest Control

At the greenhouse, rarely does a day go by when I don’t hear at least one horror story about how invading animals have ruined someone’s vegetable garden. For many gardeners, a backyard garden is a labor of love, and the realization that all that hard work was for nothing can be a heartbreaking experience. There’s no doubt that effective pest control for gardens is an absolute necessity.

Vegetable Garden Pest Control Methods

If you’ve ever had a problem with animals in your garden, you know the amount of damage they can do. You may have gone to great lengths to deter persistent critters, including using baby powder to repel rabbits or using various concoctions of other household products to keep relentless deer, squirrels, chipmunks or skunks away. Lawn holes by animals can be a real problem. Not only do holes make your lawn less beautiful, but they can also be dangerous if somebody trips in one. . In some cases, it may be that the family dog is the culprit, but in other situations it may be that wild animals that visit your property are responsible for those bothersome holes.

Why Do Animals Dig?

When you see animals digging up a lawn it can be the result of a variety of triggers. Dogs, for instance, are instinctive diggers and often dig to bury items they treasure like bones or favorite toys, in an effort to hide them. Sometimes, dogs will even dig … Read More

Fortunately, with the help of a few gardening and wild animal control tips for beginners, just about anyone can develop a green thumb and create a beautiful, bountiful garden that is the envy of your friends and neighbors.

Whether your goal is to undertake gardening as a relaxing hobby or to supplement your diet with healthy fruits and vegetables, all it takes is a little bit of know-how and a willingness to get your hands (or gardening gloves) dirty! It’s also important to know how to keep away critters that can destroy the fruits (and vegetables!) of your labor, which I’ll cover a little later in this post.
